Physics is a fundamental science, which explains the physical nature of the world and the universe as a whole. The Applied Physics Programme on the other hand is professionally oriented and is more relevant in serving industries and research laboratories in a developing country like Nigeria.

Mission

The Applied Physics programme is meant to equip graduates that will be differ from those of the conventional Physics programme and are well prepared for a wide variety of interesting careers which include jobs in:

  • Research and Development laboratory of technologically based industries such as Electronics, Energy production, Iron and Steel Industry, Telecommunication and Petrochemical industries etc.
  • Government services in administrative and technical capacity or in maintenance managerial positions.
  • Research laboratory in the University and in the teaching profession.
  • Self-employment as professional Physicists, by setting up consultancy services in contemporary technological Physics based industries.

Vision
